Italianovolatiles lighting is a Berlin-based technology company that emerged as a spin-off from the original academic research project at the renown Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Freie Universität Berlin. volatiles lighting develops and manufactures smart surface lighting that is unique in function and design. Glass mosaic tiles as they have been used as a decoration for many centuries are now equipped with modern LED as well as sensor and radio technology. All of these technologies are integrated into our ultra-thin modules without the need of any external control units. With our smartphone app, customers can download different light scenes and stream them on their smart mosaic tiles.
Our vision is to push the concept of smart lighting and to make lighting a totally new experience for our customers. We are fascinated by the combination of modern technology and traditional materials like glass tiles. Our product is both developed and made in Germany and we set highest standards in quality and technological perfection. Since 2017, we have a strategic partnership with the international lighting company LEDVANCE (affiliate of OSRAM) for developing and producing our illuminate mosaic tiles.
Our brand name volatiles is a combination of vola (made-up word based on the meaning of flying, moving quickly or floating) and tiles.
